MWS can enroll 115 children from approximately 100 families. About half our students are from Lexington, a third from Bedford, and the rest from other nearby communities. Many families have come to us from abroad, having moved to the Lexington area for school or business. Quite often, these children enter MWS with little or no English language but they quickly learn through play with classmates. Whether they enter our school speaking American English, Russian, Mandarin, Korean, Dutch, or Farsi, our students are all children and their primary language is play, movement, and laughter. We welcome the wonderful variety of students and parents; they enrich our school life on a daily basis.
Because we’ve been in the same location for 50 years, since our founding in 1962, many of our current parents attended MWS when they were preschoolers. They seek us out because they have good memories of preschool. As they tour the school with their own children, it’s fun to hear them comment on how small the chairs now seem to them. Welcome back MWS Alums and thanks for making our school part of your family tradition.
