In 2012, MWS celebrated 50 years of teaching preschoolers at 2600 Massachusetts Avenue. Under the leadership of Midge Williams and the guidance of the LUMC Weekday School Committee, the first classes entered the school in September 1962. Several thousand students later, MWS is still committed to its original mission: to provide the highest quality educational experience to preschool children in Lexington and surrounding towns at an affordable price.
To celebrate this milestone, MWS held two events in the spring: an anniversary party at the school on Sunday afternoon April 28th for families, friends and alumni followed by an adults-only “Red, White & Blue” Auction & Dinner on Friday May 3rd at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Lexington.
Our annual auction raises money for scholarships & large equipment, like playground structures. Every year, we award over $15,000 in partial tuition scholarships to families whose children might not attend preschool if they didn’t receive tuition assistance. The auction was better than ever, with a large turnout of current & former parents.
