Our facility includes six large bright classrooms, two indoor gross motor spaces, and a large well-equipped outdoor playground. Each classroom contains a dramatic play area, a loft for quiet play, a rug area for large construction and group experiences, a library/reading area, a sensory table, and an art area. Bathrooms are located between connecting classrooms or across the hall.
Our classrooms contains plenty of age-appropriate manipulatives and learning materials. The school office houses several thousand books and larger, more expensive learning materials that teachers borrow to use in their rooms as often as they like. We have an impressive assortment of dramatic play furniture like kitchen equipment, workbenches, large doll houses, tents, shopping carts, blocks, laundry furniture–so that the theme in dramatic play areas can be changed frequently. And of course, we have a large supply of sensory and art materials, from construction paper and glue to “beautiful junk” (aka. recycled materials). There’s no end to creativity when children have good materials and ample space to use them.
The Big Room is our indoor gym, used daily by all the classes. It contains a variety of large motor equipment such as climbing structures, big blocks, tricycles, slides, balance equipment, and basketballs, It’s a wonderful place to challenge growing bodies and provides an appropriate outlet for all that preschool energy.
